The Art of User Science
As the product community remains divided as to whether qualitative research is better than quantitative insights, Brent Tworetzky is celebrating both through the application of what he calls "user science."
In this special episode of the 100 PM podcast, we're joined by Brent- VP of Product for New York's XO Group, makers of The Knot and The Bump- and Brian Smith, VP of Marketing for User Testing, the market leader in facilitating remote usability testing.
It isn't hard to see why Brent and Brian get along as well as they do: they're both deep supporters of the "let's go see" method of validating ideas.
For Brent, that validation comes from this methodical blend of qualitative activities (such as interviews and journal studies) and metrics-driven experiments (like AB and Multi-Variate Testing) called User Science.
For Brian, nothing is more validating than helping product managers get their products in front of real users at scale in order to more quickly test ideas and discover opportunities to improve user experience.
